Object of the Bill
The main objet of the Bill is to give legal effect to certain provisions of the East African Community Mediation Agreement, 1984 signed on 14th May, 1984 on behalf of the United Republic of Tanzania, the Republic of Tanzania, the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Uganda; as a consequence thereof to repeal the East African Community Act, 1967 (Act 28 of 1967). The Bill also seeks to provide for consequential amendment and adaptation of other Laws while it also lays ground for future East African regional co-operation.
